Pierre Poutre dit Lavigne

Pierre was the son of Antoine Poutre, a farmer,  and Marie Lagesse (Dagesse). He was born on February 22 and baptized February 23, 1824 at St Cyrien de Napierville, Napierville, Quebec, Canada. His god paents were Pierre Lagesse and Monique Houle.

Pierre and Esther Vachereau were married on October 28 1856 at St Bernard de Lacolle, St Jean, Quebec, Canada. Pierre was 32 yrs old and Marie was 25. Those present at the wedding were Antoine Poutre, the father of the groom and Joseph Vacherault, the father of the bride.

Esther Vachereau was the daughter of Joseph Vachereau, a farmer, and Seraphine Gagne. She was born on November 20 and baptized on November 21, 1831 at St Phillipe de Laprairie, Laprarie, Quebec, Canada. Her godparents were Joseph Babeu and Josephte Poissant.

Pierre was the first Poutre dit Lavigne to come from Canada into the United States. He entered into New York State and settled in Cohoes, NY.  His surname was Poutre dit Lavigne in Canada and after entering Cohoes, it gradually changed from Poutre dit Lavigne to just Lavigne. It is estimated that Pierre came to the United States sometime in 1871.

He is listed on the Lacolle, Canadian 1871 census with his wife and his first 6 children - Marie Elizabeth, Pierre Uldaric, Marie Delia, Israel, George (my Grandfather), and Joseph. After moving to Cohoes, Pierre and Esther had 4 more children - Mena, Marie Adeline, Esma and Henri.

In the 1880 federal census, Pierre is listed at living at 2 Garner St. On the census, the family is listed as: Peter (55), Ester (480, Elizabeth (22), John (Dore) (20), Delia (18), Jerry (Israel) (14), George (10), Mena (8), and Esma (5).In the 1880 census, the Poutre family is listed as living at 2 Garner Street, Cohoes. they were  Peter (55), Ester (48), Eliabeth (22), John (Dore) (20, Delia (18), Jerry (Israel) (14, George (10), Mena (8) and Esma.

Esther died June 8, 1894 at the age of 62 at 27 Garner Street, Cohoes. Her death diagnosis was apoplexy. She was buried on June 11, 1894 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, NY.


Pierre died June 3, 1901 at the age of 77 at 27 Garner Street, Cohoes. His death diagnosis was complication of disease (? what disease that was). He was buried on June 5, 1901 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, NY. Both Pierre and Esther are buried in their grandson's, Armand Reneau, plot  at St. Joseph's.


By the time that Pierre and Esther died, most of the children had married and lived elsewhere in Cohoes.

ANTOINE POUTRE

Antoine Poutre II was the son of Antoine Poutre I and Marie Amable Gauthier. He was born and baptized on March 4, 1776 at St Phillipe, Laprarie, St Jean, Quebec. His Godparents were Antoine Robert and Marie Angelique Lamarre. 

Antoine (34 yrs old) and Marie Dajes (Dagesse-Desanges-) (25 yrs old)  were married on November 26, 1810 Ste Marguerite de Blairfinde, L'Acadie, St Jean, Quebec. Those present were: Joseph and Amable Poutre (brothers of the groom), Joseph Guerin and Pierre Laroche (friends of the groom). Also present, were Jean Baptiste Houle and Michel Houle (maternal uncles), Michel Bissonnette (an uncle of the bride) Henry ???ieben ( a friend of the bride).

Marie Desanges Dagert was the daughter of Dominique D'Agest and Marie Desanges Houle. She was born on July 18th and baptized on July 19, 1785 at Nativite-de-la-Prairie de la-Magdeleine, Laprairie, Laprarie, Quebec.

ANTOINE POUDRET dit LAVIGNE

Antoine Poudret dit Lavigne was born on March 23, 1744 at L'Enfant-Jesus-La-Pointe-aux-Trembles. His parents were Pierre Poudret dit Lavigne and Magdeline du Tremblay.His Godparents were: ? Poudret and Charlotte Poudret.
      On November 15 1773, he married Marie Amable St Germain, daugheter of Antoine Gautier-St Germain and Veronique Benoit,  at Saint-Antoine-de-Longueuil, Longueul, Quebec Canada. Those present at the wedding were:Pierre Poudret (brother of the groom), Marie Anne Poudret, Pierre Poudret (nephew), Joseph Daniel & Joseph Lamare. On the brides side were Antoine Gauthier (father), Joseph Benoit, Joseph Gagne, & Pierre Gagne.
     Antoine and Marie Amable had 11 children:
Marie Amable died on May 32, and was buried on June 2, 1832 at St Cyprien de Napierville, Napierville, Quebec at the age of 77 years.

PIERRE POUTRE

Pierre Poutre, son of Andre Poutre and Jeanne Burel was born on August 1, 1682 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Madelaine Masson, daughterof Pierre Masson dit du Tremblay and Marie CatherineFrancois was born Feb 13, 1704 at L'perade, Champlain, Quebec, Canada.
      Pierre (36 yrs old) and Madelaine(18 yrs old) married on September 27, 1723 at L'EnfantJesus-de-la Pointe aux Trembles, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
